Bits of Boeing

Did anyone see that Kevin McCloud (I love Kevin) programme on Channel 4 recently where they tried to re-use all of the different parts of an old aeroplane? No? Well I’ve found it on 4OD here for you.

Kevin's Supersized Salvage

Essentially the challenge was to see if a plane could be recycled, and all of the various metals and components in the plane re-used and re-purposed into usable, and in some cases, really beautiful objects.

Well it seems as though Boeing have taken a leaf out of that book and are now stocking some really lovely furniture made out of old engine parts, check out this table made from an old engine rotor…

If you’ve got a spare £6k (that’s the conversion – I worked it out) and live in a fancy industrial, batchelor-style loft somewhere, this is clearly the table for you…Engine table

Buy it on the Boeing website here.

Personally I have far less high aspirations, and have fallen just a little bit in love with this beverage cart, it would look lovely in a bright white and stainless steel kitchen, though I’m sure there are about a million and one other possible uses for it – maybe a little filing cabinet – maybe a shoe rack?

Anyway, thats a snip at just over £1k so that perfectly do-able, right? Right? Um, perhaps not.
