Beady eyed bird looking for collectables and design stuff
Hitchin is a great place to search out little vintage collectables and nicnacks, there’s an array of charity shops which always seem to be laden, and a few good little antique/vintage/retro/stuff shops kicking about.
The other day I went to check out Lifestyle, Hitchin. Located just off the market square and tucked slightly away from the main drag; it’s the kind of little treasure trove which is good for a rummage. As with all of these places there’s an array of sellers with all sorts of bits of varying ages/tastes (more shabby chic anyone? No?) but there are a few great stands with some lovely bits.
This gorgeous Carltonware cruet set was a lovely pattern and design, and in good nick too – just in need of a little clean. These were just £12.50 which I think is a good buy… with maybe a touch of haggling?
Incidentally if you’re in the market for a new salt and pepper pot you could do worse than checking out Carltonware on eBay, I’ve kinda fallen in love with these…
Then I chanced upon a stall selling a few taxidermy butterflies, nicely framed too. I always think bits like this would make lovely Christmas presents for friends – don’t you?
There was also a great little 197-s rug which I very very nearly came away with, but I didn’t manage to get a picture. I might have to check back next week and see if it’s still there…
