Antique Owl

Beady eyed bird looking for collectables and design stuff

design twenty, Mid-century owling, Bedford

I recently spotted this gorgeous little shop in the newly redeveloped Castle Quay area of Bedford after a hearty mexican lunch. On my first visit I’d noticed an awesome mid-century sofa so there was a little motive for a second visit – finding out how much it was!

design twenty specialise in mid-century design classics and have an awesome way of displaying relevant books next to their products to verify their status, good for those of us who are just learning and might only have Arne Jacobsen and Eames in our repertoires!

Slightly more affordable then my dream sofa this this gorgeous signed chair print at £45.

They have eight of these bad boy diamond chairs – can you believe it. How gorgeous are they?

Another awesome example of wood being used stunningly and beautifully. the floating back and pointed arms of these chairs just scream atomic era at me.

Simple and effective design is just so beautiful without bells and whistles. Elements like these sideboard handles which don’t shout but just are absolutely beautiful.

I’m a sucker for enamel at the best of times, let alone scandi enamel in simple shades. These bowls by Krenit Denmark are just lovely and will go with my mental collection of Catherineholm (n.b. this doesnt exist yet, but one day).

You can see more of design twenty on their website, just keep your hands off the Peter Hvidt Sofa and chair, I’m saving, alright?!

yep – all great stuff alright! isn’t it terrible having an aesthetic that doesn’t accord with one’s material reality? i suffer from this affliction.
